Los Cristianos - the ideal location for your holiday in Tenerife
Los Cristianos is a small town located on the south coast of Tenerife just 20 minutes drive from Tenerife South Airport. Originally a small fishing village, Los Cristianos has blossomed into a popular tourist resort that retains its character from its seafaring past.
The harbour, which is still home to a colourful fishing fleet and fish market, now serves many yatchs and pleasure cruisers as well as car and passenger ferries to the neighbouring island of La Gomera.
The main beach in Los Cristianos is protected by the harbour wall and enjoys still calm waters and soft yellow sand. On the other side of the harbour towards, Las Vista's beach with its breakwaters, yellow sands and fountain is a hub of water-sports activities. Both beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag and are accessible to prams, pushchairs and wheelchairs.
A seafront promenade runs the length of the town and on into the neighbouring resort of Playa de Las Americas and beyond. Enthusiastic walkers can enjoy long walks along the promenade which runs for almost 10 km to the small village of La Caleta.
Most of Los Cristianos town-centre is pedestrianised, through the various precents running off from the beautiful church square you'll find a colourful array of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. There's a great variety in Los Cristianos with a mixture of local and international tastes and cultures. The sunday market is a great place for bargain souvenirs and clothing whilst the town centre is a great place to buy discount electronics like digital cameras or camcorders. Remember Tenerife is a duty free island.
